Hedones is a stranger to the world of Eorzea. In another place, he was known as Song of the River, a tabaxi bard and hero of the Sword Coast. He also wasn’t a he. After retiring from a life of adventuring, River was brought a creature of strange origin by a mysterious adventurer. It called itself a Moogle and wished to find a way back to its homeworld. The Moogle described Eorzea and the Twelveswood to River, who became all the more intrigued by this strange world. It just so happened that River knew of a spell to help the little Moogle out. After much study and research, she and the Moogle stood together and she cast Dream of the Blue Veil. Both fell unconscious and through the planes of the Aether, were transported to Eorzea. Dream of the Blue Veil does not physically transport those to the other planes, but sends their consciousness. The goal was to explore and find what happened to the little Moogle.Meanwhile, not far from River and the Moogle, a tribe of Miqo’te were traveling the Twelveswood. A young male leading the pack kept close watch on any ambushes from the Ixali that might happen. Unfortunately, as he was scouting ahead, an arrow pierced his heart and left him dead. The rest of the tribe defeated the Ixali ambush and mourned the loss of their family member. A grave was set up with a beautiful memorial to remember the Miqo’te they lost.River discovered that the Moogle was pulled through a strange portal that was opened by a mysterious cloaked figure. The magic was unfamiliar to both and the motive was unclear. Following this cloaked figure, they witnessed them come upon the grave of the young Miqo’te. Kneeling down with their hand outstretched, a light manifested and lowered into the ground. Before their eyes, River and the Moogle watched as the Miqo’te materialized before the cloaked figure, floating in an aura of light.A pain shot through River’s chest causing her to look down. Clutched under her hand was a wound, fresh and bleeding. Behind it something pulled at her heart. A light matching that of the aura around the Miqo’te burst from River’s chest and glided to the Miqo’te. River’s body fell to the ground as a blue curtain wrapped itself around her before disappearing. The Moogle watched as the light from River entered the Miqo’te’s chest. He gasped and his eyes opened. The cloaked figure gestured their hand and the Miqo’te gently floated to the ground.“The hero has been delivered to the world of Eorzea,” the cloaked figure said, turning to look at the Moogle. “Watch over them and guide them on the right path.” In a flash, the figure disappeared and before the little Moogle lay the now sleeping Miqo’te.Hedones knows that he isn’t of Eorzea and is on the path to discovering who he was and how he got here. Along the way, he made new friends that became family. One day, he will get back and find answers. Right now, though, Eorzea needs him.
